Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 17
VVA’S FOUNDING
PRINCIPLE
“Never again will one
generation of veterans abandon another”
Assist the Hard Rock Café feed the homeless
a traditional Thanksgiving meal each thanksgiving.
Chapter 17 members donate time,
clothing and personal care kits to the annual October mult-military service organizations
Veterans in transition..
Donate food to the Catholic War
Veterans, food bank, for the homeless and low income folks each month.
Make visits to hospitalized veterans
and take them needed items such as sewing kits, crosswords puzzles or paper and
pens.
Distribute clothing and hygiene kits
to the homeless living on the streets.
Collect furniture and then donate it
to families in need.
Participate in annual U S Vets local Stand
Down.
Participate in annual Las Vegas
Intertribal POW WOW.
Some members feed the homeless each
Monday evening.
Donate numerous gift cards to the
Nevada State Veterans Home residents in Boulder City, NV.
Provide funding to the Associates of
Vietnam Veterans of America to create shirt protectors (large bibs) that are
then donated to the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City. NV.
Participate with other groups in
donating toys and cash to Nellis and Creech Air Force Bases for Airmen’s
family’s each Christmas.
Donate 50 turkeys to 97.1 The Point
radio station and “Help of Southern Nevada” to feed those in need.
Provide donations to families of
departed members in need.
Chapter 17 has designed and present
medals to selected JROTC High School cadets at 17 are school.
Give US Savings bonds to JROTC cadets
who receive our medals.
Provide Honor Guards at funeral
services for veterans and homeless veterans at Boulder City Cemetery.
Sponsor a hole in one golf
tournaments for fundraisers.
Sell fireworks each Fourth of July to
help raise funds to benefit veterans and the local community.
Hold an annual open House and award
ceremony for those who have helped our Chapter or community.
Hold monthly chapter meetings and
B-B-Q for guest and members.
Help veterans with financial or other
assistance as need.
Chapter 17 has two accredited service
officers who provide veterans with VA benefits counseling and claims assistance.
